Trends / Unique Itineraries & Tours

The Austrian capital is home to some amazing museums and galleries. Here are some of the best ones to visit when you’re in Vienna.

Start off with the Naturhistorisches Museum (Natural History Museum), which houses an almost unfathomable 20 million objects. Whatever your interest, you’re bound to find something to stir your curiosity here.

Gadget fans will also really enjoy the Technology Museum, which sits near Schönbrunn Park. Wander the exhibits yourself or join a guided tour, a highlight being the live demonstration of high-voltage electricity.

One of the more unique museums in Vienna is the Globe Museum, which celebrates the history of astronomy. Found inside the Austrian National Library, it’s full of miniature replicas of the Earth, moon and Mars.

Sigmund Freud is one of the most famous people born in Austria, and the godfather of psychoanalysis. It’s only fitting, then, there is a museum dedicated to his life and work, housed inside his former residence in Vienna.

Visitors to Austria will likely have been offered some of the powerful fruit brandy known as schnapps, and you can learn all about it at the Old Vienna Schnapps Museum. You’ll have to make an appointment to visit, but it’s worth being organized.

Staying Clean on Airplanes

Traveling anywhere hundreds of people share seats is enough to set off any germaphobe’s anxiety. There are ways to limit your contact with airplane seats, though.

Leave Troublesome Rideshare Worries Behind

We can see it now and remember when it happened to us: Watching as the black car icon loops around and around, seemingly endlessly, and our wait time on the rideshare app continually changes. Long wait times and confused drivers are just a few bothersome issues that can nag at rideshare users. Need a solution? Ditch rideshares altogether in favor of renting a car on your next trip.

Top 5: Beaches in Calabria

Calabria may be the last authentic region of Italy undisturbed by hordes of international tourists, but northern Italians have long adored this southern destination for its dramatic cliff-side beaches, flocking to its ancient shores for centuries of idyllic summer holidays. The region is rife with medieval mountaintop villages overlooking sparkling beaches, each a fantasy postcard setting, and here are five of the most enchanting.

Enjoy the Open Road on Your Terms

For most of us, time in the car is “me time.” You can listen to that podcast you’re captivated by, blast that pop song and sing along at the top of your lungs or listen to the next chapter in that biography e-book you’re almost finished. A road trip only amplifies those opportunities. So, next time you’re traveling by road, take the wheel and take control. Opt for a rental car on your next vacation, rather than a rideshare, taxi or public transportation, and enjoy the open road on your own terms.
