Paleontology is the study of the history of natural life through fossils. There are numerous museums around the world specializing in the display of a variety of fossils. Whether you’re bringing a kid or a kid at heart, add these museums to the top of your list.
Canadian Fossil Discovery Centre
Located in Manitoba, Canada, this museum houses the largest collection of marine reptile fossils in Canada. The museum is also home to the Guinness World Record holder for the largest publicly displayed mosasaur, a large marine reptile, named Bruce. Open daily, adult admission costs $8.25.
Natural History Museum, Berlin
Berlin’s first natural history museum features several interesting fossils. When the Archaeopteryx fossils were first found, they were thought to be a bird but were later reclassified as a dinosaur species. The museum also boasts the tallest dinosaur in the world on display — the Brachiosaurus. Admission costs about $9. Closed Monday.
Oxford University Museum of Natural History
England’s museum at Oxford University contains several important specimens in its collection, with more than 400,000 fossils in total. One key specimen is the fossilized jawbone of a Megalosaurus, the first dinosaur to be scientifically described. The museum is open daily. Admission is free.

United Continues Its Global Expansion
United Airlines keeps soaring to new heights, recently announcing another expansion of its leading global route network. The airline added new non-stop flights between Newark (EWR) and Marrakesh (RAK), Morocco; Tokyo (NRT) and Cebu (CEB), Philippines; and Houston (IAH) and Medellin (MDE), Colombia. That’s not all: United also plans to increase flights to popular worldwide destinations including Hong Kong (HKG); Seoul (INC), South Korea; and Porto (OPO), Portugal. Following the recent agreement to increase flights between the U.S. and Chinese governments, the airline now adds four weekly flights from Los Angeles (LAX) to Shanghai (PVG).
