Trends / Unique Itineraries & Tours

One of the best parts of travel is getting to see the history of different lands firsthand. From monuments, museums and historically cultural sites, travel offers a distinct opportunity to learn about the world at large.

South Africa is filled with these monuments. Here are some of the ones you should make time for on your South African trip.

The Castle of Good Hope is one of the oldest buildings in Africa. The castle was completed in 1679 and used as the center for civilian and military life in South Africa for many years.

The Cradle of Humankind is a UNESCO World Heritage site where the oldest humanoid remains were discovered. If you’re traveling for natural history, this is a must-see.

The Nelson Mandela Capture Site marks the spot where Nelson Mandela was captured in 1962. The monument is operated by the Apartheid Museum, and is a fitting capstone for a trip filled with history.

The Afrikaans Language Monument was opened to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Afrikaans declared an official distinct language. The monument was completed in 1975 and represents important culture for South Africa.

Make sure to visit the Apartheid Museum in Johannesburg while visiting the country as well. The museum offers a deep look into the history of apartheid in South Africa.
