Trends / Top Trends

Netflix has always been stingy when it comes to content. License agreements prevent it from showing its entire catalogue here in the United States. That just means you get new options when you travel overseas. Check out these great shows next time you’re out of the country.

Blackadder
Blackadder is an oldie, but a goodie. The U.K. comedy stars Rowan Atkinson as four different members of a conniving family throughout different centuries of English history. It mixes both high- and low-brow humor effortlessly and helped kickstart the careers of both Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie.

Red Dwarf
Red Dwarf is one of the longest running shows on television, spanning 30 years. A comedy version of Star Trek, the show features smug hologram, a bipedal cat and a sarcastic supercomputer working together with the last human in the universe. It can only be seen on Netflix UK.

Generation War
Generation War was a blockbuster series when it debuted in Germany in 2013. The limited series follows a group of five friends from the beginning of June 1941 to the fall of the Berlin Wall four years later. At times both illuminating and horrifying, it was lauded for displaying the realities of war in a raw manner that had viewers questioning their own morality. It is only available on Netflix Germany.
