Tips / Other

Whether traveling with lots of down time or just soaking up the changing seasons with free time outside, fall is a great time to crack open a new book.

Why save all your reading for summer, when you have a healthy lineup of new reads like this at your disposal?

The Testaments

Beginning with the most obvious, Margaret Atwood’s new read, The Testaments, is a sequel to the critically acclaimed The Handmaid’s Tale and a perfect extension of your summer reading list. Catch up and begin with the first of the series and set yourself up for a wild, dark ride.

The Institute: A Novel

Another book hot off the presses, The Institute: A Novel by Stephen King adds to the prolific author’s long list of horror fiction reads. With more film and TV adaptations in the works than any other writer in the genre, this new one is a great addition to your seasonal, spooky entertainment.

Frankly in Love

For a high school love story with a bit more meat, Frankly in Love is a fall read worth digging into. Written by David Yoon, Frankly in Love is the author’s debut novel and already has a movie to follow. Not a bad idea to get in on the ground floor before the film comes out.

The Starless Sea

For fantasy, fiction and some romance, The Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern is a novel to watch for. Arriving Nov. 5, this secret underground world with fantasy-epic themes is a fun transport from reality — especially during your travel down time and flight delays.

Sure, you can find all these titles and more online, but you might get more bang for your buck by visiting an independent bookstore near you and shopping the aisles for more fall-reading inspiration.

That’s not all: United also plans to increase flights to popular worldwide destinations including Hong Kong (HKG); Seoul (INC), South Korea; and Porto (OPO), Portugal. Following the recent agreement to increase flights between the U.S. and Chinese governments, the airline now adds four weekly flights from Los Angeles (LAX) to Shanghai (PVG).

Going the Distance: Which Airports Have the Longest Walks?

You’re in between flights and ready to find a coffee and your next gate and settle in. But then you find the signs to your gate and look down the impossibly long corridor and wonder how you managed to have the gate at the opposite end of the airport.

Interior Upgrades Begin Rolling Out Across United Fleet

United Airlines is in the midst of a major initiative to modernize its fleet over the next several years. After first announcing the plan in 2021, planes fitted with United’s signature interior are finally beginning to appear across the airline’s narrowbody fleet of Boeing and Airbus planes. United flyers are sure to notice these enhancements from the moment they step on board: Each new or updated plane sports remodeled seats, seatback entertainment screens for everyone, Bluetooth connectivity and more, all adding up to a better experience on every journey.
