A new accommodations option is now open in Massachusetts’s Berkshire mountains. Prospect — named for the lake the retreat overlooks — is a year-round landscape hotel with historic roots, set on 30 acres enjoyed by recreators since the late 1800s.

Guests stay in one of nearly 50 hand-built, Scandinavian-inspired cabins with floor-to-ceiling windows that allow them to take full advantage of the natural landscape. Two options are available: 400-square-foot cabins and 135-square-foot cabins. In alignment with the property’s focus on a natural getaway, none of the cabins feature televisions or phones (but, don’t worry — WiFi is available).
The property’s social space is Cliff House, which encompasses the retreat’s restaurant, bar, retail space and gathering areas. The Cliff House will also host events for guests, such as readings, wine tastings or workshops, which will additionally be open to locals.

All the while, guests are just a short distance away from outdoor activities like skiing and hiking. On-site activities include swimming, tennis, pickleball and boating. In keeping with the property’s sustainable ethos, guests will also find multiple gardens on site, as well as an orchard, bee hives and sheep.
