The Sunshine State offers plenty of new things to do and see this year, as well as quite a few new places to stay.

Two properties opening in early 2020 that you may want to check out include Osprey Pointe in Sandestin, a 2,400-acre resort with views of Choctawhatchee Bay and the nearby nature preserve, and the boutique luxury Hotel Effie, in Miramar Beach.

Of course, there’s always something new at the theme parks. Disney’s Hollywood Studios continues to add Star Wars attractions. Universal Orlando is opening attractions related to the Bourne franchise this spring.

Baseball fans who enjoy spring training every year will enjoy a newly renovated First Data Field in Port St. Lucie. The field underwent a $57 million makeover that includes new concessions, shops, bars, a party deck and more.

In St. Petersburg, St. Pete Pier is set to become the place to enjoy in the area, with 26 acres of waterfront park filled with spots to dine, shop and play for both adults and children.

In Sarasota, the new Sarasota Art Museum opens early this year as the first museum in the region dedicated to contemporary art.

In the Palm Beaches, travelers should consider staying at the new Amrit Ocean Resort or The Brazilian Court Hotel. In the area, other new attractions include Delray Beach Market, with Florida’s largest food hall, and Steel Tie Spirits Company, the largest distillery in the region.

Head south to the Keys, where Kimpton Key West opens early this year, a project that includes five separate hotels in Key West’s historic district.
