With the excitement of the upcoming Summer Olympics, travelers are itching to get out this summer and embark on their own adventure. Travelers visiting Montgomery Whitewater Park in Alabama don’t have to be an elite athlete or an athlete at all to have an adventure. Paddlers of all skill levels are invited to conquer the same rapids that challenged the U.S. Olympic kayak team just a few months ago when the park hosted the Olympic Team Trials.

The world-class outdoor recreation center features a 12-million-gallon, Olympic-level whitewater course. Make your own adventure by navigating the adrenaline-pumping Competition Channel or take the calmer Creek Channel on a group rafting excursion. You can also choose a solo adventure in a canoe, kayak or inflatable “ducky” kayak.
Entry to the park is free and all rafting experiences are paid separately. For travelers looking to relax out of the water, the park has a covered patio and on-site bar and restaurant, Eddy’s, as well as a climbing wall, kids’ ropes courses and mountain bike rentals to explore scenic trails.

The park is easily accessible from I-85 and I-65 and is located less than five minutes from the heart of historic downtown Montgomery. For travelers looking to stay overnight, check out Trilogy Autograph Collection or Renaissance Montgomery.
