A new initiative puts the spotlight on accessible travel in Florida. As part of National Mobility Awareness Month this past May, Visit Panama City Beach launched Fun.For.All, which promotes and provides guidance on all the easily-accessible things to do in Panama City Beach. The tourism organization reports more than 18 million people in North America deal with mobility challenges.
“Accessible travel is a top priority for our destination and community,” said Dan Rowe, president and CEO, Visit Panama City Beach. “We believe every traveler should be able to experience our beaches, restaurants, hotels and resorts, as well as the endless activities and events we offer year-round.”
Some of the accessible amenities in Panama City Beach include Bay Town Trolley, the local public transit system that’s outfitted with aids and services for those with speech, hearing and vision impairments. The trolley is also easily accessible for wheelchair users and those with service animals. For beachgoers with wheelchairs, Mobi-Mats at the city beaches provide easy access to the shoreline, while Mobi-Chairs, floating beach wheelchairs that allow maneuverability in the water, are also available.
Highlighted accessible attractions include St. Andrew’s State Park, with its wheelchair-accessible beaches, boardwalks, fishing piers and campsites, as well as WonderWorks, a multilevel, wheelchair-accessible amusement park.
