Pendry Hotels & Resorts opened Pendry Chicago, in the heart of Chicago’s Loop district, at the end of May, in the iconic 1920s-era Carbide & Carbon Building, an American Art Deco landmark. The new hotel offers 364 guestrooms and suites, a modern French brasserie and café, a bar and a summer rooftop bar. There’s also 13,000 square feet of meeting and event space, a state-of-the-art fitness center and a curated art collection from international and local Chicago artists.
Venteux, on the ground floor, is a French brasserie, café and shellfish bar, helmed by Executive Chef and partner Donald Young, Chicago’s youngest Michelin-starred talent. Serving classic French cuisine with a contemporary twist, the 4,000-square-foot restaurant brings “a breath of French air” to the Magnificent Mile. Bar Pendry celebrates classic Chicago bars, with a menu of classic and signature cocktails and light bites.
Another highlight, opening June 25, is Château Carbide, on the 24th floor. During the day, guests can soak up the sun on loungers and enjoy a picnic-style menu and curated wine list, and, at night, the indoor/outdoor space becomes a nightlife destination with DJs, bottle service and city views. The Billard Gallery, adjacent to the lobby, boasts views of Michigan Avenue and showcases a rotating artwork collection.
Nearby Chicago’s River Walk and Magnificent Mile, Pendry Chicago’s convenient location complements the building’s historic significance in the Carbide & Carbon Building. Designed by the Burnham Brothers, the building is famed for its unique Champagne bottle design, made of black granite, green and gold Terracotta with bronze trim, topped with 24-karat gold leaf.
