Take your Oregon rafting trip to the next level with a floating wildlife safari, combining rafting on the Rogue River with hiking and wildlife spotting for an unforgettable adventure.

Rogue River Rafting and Lodge is an itinerary from Western River Expeditions and the itinerary is available to rafters of all skills and ages (starting at age 7), with departures through July and August.

The itinerary departs from Merlin, Oregon, and then takes off to the remote Rogue River, where the rainy winters created ideal river running conditions in the Cascade Mountains.

“Western River Expeditions has river rafting programs in Costa Rica where wildlife viewing is always exciting. But stateside, the Rogue can’t be beat when it comes to the wildlife our guests may see,” said Brandon Lake, CMO, Western River Expeditions.

The Rogue River was one of the first rivers designated a Wild & Scenic river ecosystem. What wildlife can you expect to see while on your three- or four-day rafting excursion? It ranges from black bears to beavers, otter to deer, osprey to eagles.

“On most of our other rafting trips, guests can experience camping under the stars, but on the Rogue we feature the luxury of lodge-based accommodations. With so much daytime whitewater and wildlife excitement along the Rogue, we depend on our lodge hosts to calm and pamper our guests at night with sumptuous dining and cozy beds,” added Lake.

The Rogue River Rafting and Lodge itinerary starts at $1,095 per person.

These tiny creatures aren’t always visible to the naked eye, but they can completely ruin a vacation and leave hotel guests itching and scratching for weeks. Here are a few ways to ensure where you lay your head at night isn’t also where bed bugs lay their own.

Experience a big-city hotel stay that doesn’t feel like your typical urban visit at Chicago’s Claridge House, nestled in the sought-after Gold Coast neighborhood. The hotel’s sophisticated décor and serene residential ambience foster the atmosphere of an oasis amid the hustle and bustle of a busy metropolis.

Travel Clothing with Secret Pockets

The idea of secret pockets in travel gear was once about waist wallets lying flesh on your stomach and awkward inner pockets. The location not only made it impossible for pickpockets to get to but also travelers trying to access their passports and cash. Other travel clothes promise to deter pick-pocketers but are also difficult to manage the bulky inner pockets while exploring.

Relaxing Regulations on Traveling with Liquid and Laptops

The TSA's ever-changing rules of shoes on or off, liquids and more are confusing to even savvy travelers. The rule of thumb is to stay flexible to anything reasonable the TSA asks and avoid bringing anything obviously off-limits like sharp objects including nail clippers and nail files. However, the TSA is relaxing its hands-on stance on laptops and liquids with the help of new scanning machines.
