With summer underway and Fourth of July on the horizon, Priceline released its trends and travel data around July 4 weekend. New data shows trends for nature-filled destinations, family trips, fun in Florida and more.
Round-trip domestic and international airfares for the holiday weekend are up to 17 percent lower than this time last year, offering a great opportunity for people to save on a long weekend getaway or an exciting international trip. Several international destinations have average round-trip flight costs of less than $450.
Priceline data shows travelers may hit the open road this July 4. There has been an increase of more than 50 percent in rental car searches to cities like San Diego, Phoenix, Chicago, Denver and Memphis.
Florida cities like Tampa, Orlando and Miami are all trending destinations on Priceline’s domestic travel lists. Not only is the Sunshine State s a top destination for Fourth of July travel, but also for summer vacations in general. Destin, Florida, saw a 21 percent increase in hotel searches in the last month thanks to its mention in Taylor Swift’s new song “Florida!!!”
Destinations offering beautiful views and nature activities are trending this Fourth of July. South Lake Tahoe saw a 43 percent increase in hotel searches, and Denver and Salt Lake City experienced a more than 40 percent increase in rental car searches. Data indicates a high interest in outdoor activities like hiking and nature exploration.
Kissimmee and Orlando, known for theme parks and family attractions, are high interests for July 4 travelers, suggesting families plan to visit destinations offering fun for all ages.
