Tips / Other

Keeping your energy high is essential for any trip. But you can’t get all of your energy from coffee. Here are a few easy snacks you can keep on hand to recharge your battery on a long day.

Did you know apples provide more energy than a cup of coffee? Baked apple chips are a tasty treat that keeps you going. Simply cut an apple into thin slices and sprinkle each side with sugar and cinnamon. Then, pop them in the oven for one hour and you have yourself a healthy, delicious treat.

Chocolate lovers will appreciate these chocolate peanut butter energy balls. A combination of oats, cocoa powder, peanut butter and honey make for an incredible snack that’s high energy, high protein and doesn’t need to be baked. Toss in some flaxseed or chia seeds for a little extra nutrition.

Are there a few over ripe bananas lying around your home? Try mixing them with cashews and almond butter for a snack that comes together in less than 10 minutes. A dash of vanilla and maple syrup give these energy bites just the right amount of sweetness to help you power the day.

If you really can’t tear yourself away from coffee for a full day, try eating it instead of drinking. Dump a half cup of brewed espresso in a blender, then toss in a generous handful of dates, a cup of raw almonds, chia seeds and cocoa powder. Mix it together and stick in the fridge for a few days to let it solidify, and you’ve got yourself a scrumptious alternative to Starbucks.
