Red Savannah, a luxury travel company specializing in tailor-made trips around the world, recently introduced a series of e-bike trips in Chianti, Italy. Available exclusively to guests staying at Red Savannah Villas in Italy, the tours feature routes through the heartlands of Tuscany, highlighting the history, villages, people and boutique wine estates of the region. Each day, guests ride through the rural communities of Tuscany while stopping to meet local artisans, explore historic sites and enjoy delicious traditional Tuscan cuisine. All of the routes offer a moderate level of activity and include a friendly, knowledgeable guide to provide local insights to unique experiences along the way.
Beginning in the hilltop village of Castellina-in-Chianti, the tour takes guests on a journey through some of Tuscany’s prettiest byways via Chianti Classico vineyards and villages. Travelers will explore villages such as Lilliano, La Strolla and Casastieri and enjoy lunch at Setriolo, a boutique wine estate managed by the Soderi family since the 19th century. Susanna Soderi will share her family’s fascinating history over lunch before inviting guests on a private tour and tasting. At the end of the tour, guests will be rewarded with ice cream from Gelateria di Castellina.
This figure-eight tour will start at the piazza of Panzano before venturing the winding country roads through the charming villages of Castellinuzza, Casole and Lamole. Travelers will get a chance to rest at the ancient borgo of Castelvecchi and have lunch with stunning views at Podere Terreno, a wine and olive oil estate. After lunch, guests will be challenged on the climb to Volpaia and along the Traversa di Chianti back to Panzano.
Travel along country roads leading through ancient fortress villages to Montefioralle. While biking, be on the lookout for a door with the emblem of a wasp and a ‘V’ carved into the stone. This is thought to be the mark of Amerigo Vespucci, the eponymous discoverer of the New World. Don’t miss the beautiful frescoes at the ninth-century abbey at Passignano, including Ghirlandaaio’s The Last Supper, before having lunch at La Cantinetta di Rignana. This trattoria gem serves traditional Tuscan cuisine accompanied by delicious wines and more.
