When in Barcelona, most crave paella, sangria, churros and other characteristic Catalan and Spanish dishes, but other cuisines shouldn’t be overlooked in this international melting pot.
Duck into Bronzo in Eixample near Avinguda Diagonal for a hospitable Italian meal among the tapas and paella restaurants of Barcelona. The friendly staff makes you feel right at home as you take your seat at a table toward the back of the restaurant. Large pillars separate sections of the seating for privacy, if so desired.
The menu isn’t just Italian; it’s Italian with a twist with ingredients and influence from the Spain side of the Mediterranean. Start with delectable Venetian meatballs, sardine in saor (marinated in vinegar) or stracciatella and pesto. For your main course, sample one of Bonzo’s pizzette from the woodfire oven, one of which is topped with porchetta and Jack Daniel’s barbecue sauce, or opt for gnocchi gorgonzola with pear and pistachio or red prawn risotto.
Finish off your aesthetically pleasing and tasty dinner with tiramisu, robiola cheesecake, gelatti or pannacotta with Nutella.
After dinner, hang around at the bar and sample traditional Italian wines or perk up with a tiny mug of espresso. Buon apettito!
