Located in Asheville, North Carolina, Rocky’s Hot Chicken Shack serves Tennessee-style hot chicken in casual digs. My husband, friends and I dined there on a recent trip to Asheville.
We decided to head right to Rocky’s when they opened at 11 a.m. Other diners had the same idea as there was already a line when we arrived shortly after opening. The spacious restaurant offers counter service. We perused the menu while waiting in line.
I tried Tennessee hot chicken on a trip to Nashville and the spice was a little too much for me, so I knew I wanted something milder this time. I opted for the fried chicken platter with mild seasoning. My platter came with two sides. I decided to embrace the southern cuisine and ordered mac and cheese and corn pudding. After ordering we made our way to the patio, which was enclosed for the colder months and had space heaters. Our food arrived after a short wait. I was happy I ordered the mild seasoning, which still had a little heat. The rich side dishes did not disappoint.
Rocky’s Hot Chicken Shack is a great spot for Tennessee hot chicken and southern dishes in Asheville.
