The Sofitel New York boasts a fantastic location off Fifth Avenue, near not only great shopping and dining, but also many Broadway theaters, making it a perfect choice for your next trip to Manhattan.
Opened in 2000, the hotel has long been a delightful escape from the busyness of New York, with its French-inspired, boutique feel that extends from the luxurious lobby to all of the nearly 400 guestrooms, including 52 suites. The lobby is frequently chosen for art and cultural exhibits with some tie to the area, such as the most recent display of Broadway posters by artist Frank ‘Fraver’ Verlizzo. Later this year, guests will enjoy a new exhibit in its place that focuses on the magazine France-Amérique and its timelessly stylish covers over the years.
After checking in at the desk, slightly hidden away from the main lobby, guests are whisked to their guestroom or suite, many with beautiful views of the surrounding skyline. Each room features a three-paneled maple or rosewood full-wall headboard, with a recessed niche with artwork. The classic, superior and luxury guestrooms all offer ample space, particularly for a New York hotel. Each includes a seating area and desk. Storage and closet space are abundant and floor-to-ceiling mirrors throughout make dressing to go out easy. The marble-covered bathrooms provide separate soaking tubs and rain showers, plus imported French bath amenities.
The on-site dining option is the Gaby Brasserie Française, a brasserie and bar serving French- and American-inspired cuisine. Gaby Bar has an impressive wine and Champagne menu, plus a good balance of classic and unique cocktails.
In keeping with the hotel’s French heritage, the New York Sofitel hosts a Wine Days event, which occurs late September through late October. A great fit for a girls’ trip or couple’s retreat, guests enjoy unique wine-themed events, such as inventive pairings.

Apr 12, 2024How to Explore Neuschwanstein Castle
Most people know Neuschwanstein Castle as Walt Disney’s inspiration for both Cinderella’s and Sleeping Beauty’s castles, but it is also filled with history and stories from German royalty. In 1868, King Ludwig II began construction of the medieval-style castle to live in. Sadly, it wasn’t finished before he died, so the king never got to see the finished product. Today, the castle is privately owned, but travelers can still explore it on a guided audio tour.
