Soneva Targets 50 Percent Solar Power for 2024 in the Maldives

Sustainable luxury resort operator Soneva advances toward its goal of 50 percent solar power in 2024 for its properties in the Maldives: Soneva Fushi and Soneva Jani. Both resorts are on pace to achieve this goal by the end of 2024, thanks in part to new photovoltaic installations.

German-headquartered Aareal Bank provided $10 million in funding, which allowed Soneva to expand its development of solar power at its resorts. As a future improvement, the resorts may install solar panels in the ocean surrounding the resorts

Beyond solar power goals, Soneva also expands its existing sustainability initiatives, including rainwater harvesting, to further enhance the resorts’ energy usage.
