Destinations / Africa

This is not your average treehouse. andBeyond Ngala Treehouse opened in South Africa last month as a new experience available at andBeyond Ngala Safari Lodge and andBeyond Ngala Tented Camp.

This fully solar-powered treehouse sits 39 feet in the air, three miles from the nearest lodge. The treehouse offers a rooftop deck with outdoor bed and lounge, separate indoor bedroom, full bathroom, outdoor shower and dining area. It all comes with gorgeous views of the bush below and is set over four different levels, with coverings and weatherproofing on the third level and a retractable awning on the fourth.

For those seeking a stay in this treehouse fit for two, they can pack up their belongings and be driven out to the treehouse, surrounded by a thorn boma fence for extra safety. If they need anything during their secluded stay, a dedicated treehouse attendant is just a phone call away, but the treehouse is fully stocked with snacks and drinks.

The treehouse sits on the andBeyond Ngala Private Game Reserve, on the border of Kruger National Park. It’s one of South Africa’s most famous wilderness areas, where you’re likely to spot the Big Five, including several large lion prides and endangered African wild dogs. There are even two white lion cubs living on the reserve, two of only three currently living in the wild in the entire world.

During stays, guests will enjoy exclusive game drives and bush walks across the 36,000 acres of land. Game drives are offered twice daily.

Going the Distance: Which Airports Have the Longest Walks?

You’re in between flights and ready to find a coffee and your next gate and settle in. But then you find the signs to your gate and look down the impossibly long corridor and wonder how you managed to have the gate at the opposite end of the airport.

The Argosaronic Islands Are Calling

The Saronic or Argo Saronic Islands of Greece call travelers to explore its seven small islands and islets brimming with history, natural sites and more. With most easily accessible by boat, the islands’ proximity to ports of Athens make the Saronic Islands an ideal destination for those preferring shorter boat rides. In fact, trips from Athens ports to the islands take only between 10 minutes and two hours, depending on the island you choose, making them perfect for day or weekend trips.
