Air travel is a little stressful these days, to say the least. However, some air travel situations might be more stressful than others. Passport-Photo.Online recently conducted a study to discover what annoys Americans most when flying.

More than three-fourths of survey respondents stated one of the worst things a fellow passenger could do was not cover their mouth when coughing or sneezing. About one-third of respondents found passengers who don’t properly wear face masks when required “very annoying.” More than half of passengers found people who don’t practice social distancing during check-in or security lines to be at least “somewhat annoying.” However, one of the worst offenses? Nearly 80 percent of respondents called out passengers who cut check-in or security lines.

That being said, not all of the top travel pet peeves uncovered in the study were the faults of fellow air travelers. Respondents also named constantly changing travel restrictions, COVID-19 testing requirements, flight delays, cancellations, and luggage weight and size problems as some of the top annoyances.

Some of the not-so-terrible inconveniences survey respondents ranked as least annoying included lack of in-flight entertainment and insufficient legroom on planes. Passengers who applaud when the plane lands and passengers who take excessive bathroom breaks were likewise rated as the least annoying.

United flyers are sure to notice these enhancements from the moment they step on board: Each new or updated plane sports remodeled seats, seatback entertainment screens for everyone, Bluetooth connectivity and more, all adding up to a better experience on every journey.
