We’re right around the corner from one of the most exciting times of the year. There’s something about summer that inspires people to spend more time doing the things they love instead of focusing on work. Summer is a popular time of year for people to go on vacations or enjoy events such as music festivals. Being people make more time for themselves in the summer, most of the best music festivals take place during the season. For travelers, music festivals can happen anywhere in the world and can be the highlight of a trip.
Glastonbury is the one of the biggest events in the United Kingdom with people from all over the world traveling to enjoy the performances. The festival has some of the most popular musical acts headline the show; past headliners include Beyonce, Muse and Adele. Glastonbury also hosts many artists in the beginning of their careers, giving them a chance for their music to be heard by a large audience. Glastonbury does not occur every year because the festival takes a toll on the local nature and community, but this summer, in June, it’s back.
Africa’s answer to America’s Burning Man is the Afrikaburn in Tankwa, South Africa. This festival is participant led and advertised as “the ultimate expression of freedom and creativity.” It takes place in the Tankwa Karoo desert at the end of April and usually hosts around 14,000 people. The festival is for independent people who don’t mind packing all their own equipment and necessities.
