Destinations

Planning a 2026 beach vacay, but not sure where you want to go? A recent study from Sail Croatia ranked the world’s most beautiful coastlines, and it might sway you toward certain destinations.

The survey compared destinations based on Google Maps reviews, number of Google searches and number of Instagram hashtags, while also considering coastline length, in order to get an idea of these data points as relative to kilometer per coastline. Taking all of these aspects into account, then, the survey pronounced the top 10 most beautiful coastlines in the world.

In descending order, the most beautiful include the Amalfi Coast, Italy; North Shore, Hawai’i; Cannon Beach, Oregon; Cinque Terre, Italy; Gozo, Malta; Santorini, Greece; Cliffs of Moher, Ireland; Anse Source d’Argent, Seychelles; Praia Dona Ana, Portugal; and Milford Sound, New Zealand.

“Coastlines have long been at the heart of global travel, offering a mix of natural beauty, vibrant local culture and easy access to recreation,” said Helle Seuren, director, Sail Croatia. “Seaside destinations account for the majority of global tourism, with travelers drawn not only to beaches but also to coastal towns and islands that blend history with scenery. As demand grows, the challenge is balancing visitor access with the protection of fragile shorelines, making sustainable management a defining issue for the future of coastal tourism.”
