Tabacón Thermal Resort & Spa in Costa Rica recently partnered with a psychologist, also the founder of Priority Wellness Group, on an exclusive wellness program. Led by Dr. Natalie Christine Dattilo, the ESCAPE to Tabacón program is available for both guests and staff.

The program includes sensory, emotional and physical experiences, designed to improve overall health. Guests learn techniques that can be incorporated into daily life after your trip. For staff, the program includes mental health support, maternity/paternity leave, financial loan opportunities and preventative health care.
The ESCAPE to Tabacón program focuses on six components: Exercise, Sleep, Connect, Appreciate, Play and Exhale.

Exercise: Exercise offers proven mental and physical health benefits. Tabacón offers a variety of adventurous exercise opportunities, including horseback riding, hiking, zip lining and whitewater rafting.
Sleep: Receiving adequate sleep each night aids in reducing stress and improving your mood. Tabacón partners with female-owned skincare company Biosfera for its turndown service. Guests can take advantage of a pillow spray and an essential oil blend for use in meditation or a hot shower to prepare for sleep.
Connect: This component applies to connecting with yourself and the local surroundings. Take part in a private outdoor yoga session and tune into your thoughts and nature. Tabacón developed its own binaural track of ambient sounds to download and listen to around the property.
Appreciate: Research shows expressing gratitude improves overall mental health. Dr. Dattilo encourages guests to identify three things to be thankful for in the moment. Guests may also take part in a private tree planting ceremony, showing gratitude for nature.
Play: Taking time to play is key for increasing endorphins and soothing tension. While there are many ways to play, Dr. Dattilo suggests spending time in Tabacón’s thermal pools or taking an on-site cooking class.
Exhale: Access to clean air is important for physical and mental health. Experience Tabacón’s signature emotional massage, which utilizes aromatherapy and breathing techniques.
