Meliá Chiang Mai takes guests on A Journey to the Farm with its new package, allowing travelers to meet local farmers and learn more about sustainable farming and healthy eating. The property’s 360° Cuisine program works in conjunction with ORI9IN The Gourmet Farm to procure organic produce that only travels a short distance. The aim is to use as much of each ingredient as possible, from roots, stems, stalks and more, before the food waste is returned to the farm as fertilizer, creating a full circle concept.
“The partnership is a central plank of our ‘360° Cuisine’ program, under which we aim to work closely with local farmers to help them improve sustainability and encourage ethical production to make communities and the overall food system more resilient,” said Edward E. Snoeks, general manager, Meliá Chiang Mai.
Starting at around $243 per room for two, the A Journey to the Farm package includes two-night accommodations, daily breakfast for two and a daytrip to a farm with a picnic lunch. At the farm, visitors can feed animals, walk with a guide to learn more and tackle a garden maze. Book through Nov. 28, for travel through Nov. 30. Call 66 0 52 090 699 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to book.
Hotel guests can enjoy the local farm’s produce, like fruits, young morning glory, red basil, lemongrass, various kinds of tomatoes, salad leaves and padrón pepper, at the hotel’s restaurants, bar and spa. On-site eateries include Mai Restaurant and Bar, Laan Na Kitchen, Mai The Sky Bar, Tien Pool Bar, Ruen Kaew lounge and The Level Lounge.
Every avid traveler knows Captain C.B. “Sully” Sullenberger, the heroic pilot who landed a US Airways aircraft in the Hudson River in 2009. However, a museum in North Carolina now honors Sullenberger in a new way, with the renaming of Carolinas Aviation Museum. Moving forward, the museum will be known as Sullenberger Aviation Museum. The name change also comes with a location change, as the museum plans a new facility next to Charlotte Douglas International Airport.
