Explore Eastern Europe and former Soviet-bloc countries with Freewheel Holidays self-guided cycling tours that allow you to see the region at your own pace while enjoying the great outdoors in Romania, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Poland.

In Romania, explore Transylvania’s heritage, starting in Bucharest. Cycle alongside horse and carts as you delve into the more rural areas of the country, passing villages and Saxon and Roman ruins. From medieval settlements to high-altitude parks, travelers see a little bit of it all while in Romania, starting at $1,000 per person.

Travel from Prague to Dresden in the Czech Republic, with a focus on iconic historic spots such as Charles Bridge, Hradschin and Old Town Square. Beyond Prague, see the wine-growing regions of the country, along with beautiful castles and small woodland villages. An option is also available that allows you to travel via barge along the River Elbe for part of the way, hopping on and off to take to your bike as you wish. Czech Republic experiences start at $784.

In Hungary, blend natural wonders with spa visits in a new itinerary that takes you to more than 400 hot springs and thermal water spas. Travel from Budapest, around Lake Tisza and then further into the grasslands. One of the highlighted stops is Hungary’s largest open-air thermal spa. The itinerary begins at $784.

Lastly, in Poland, travel along the River Dunajec through the High Tatras to Stary Sacz, Nowy Sacz and Krakow, all filled with historic neighborhoods and interesting architecture. From Krakow, travelers strike out into the countryside to learn Old World traditions and sample local cuisine. The itinerary also begins at $784.
