Considering Philadelphia is the birthplace of the cheesesteak, there’s no better place to try one. There are countless cheesesteak shops around the city. One of the most classic debates among Philadelphians is which place has the best. Here are some of the most popular shops; stop by and see for yourself which is the best one.
Two of the most-known cheesesteak shops are Pat’s King of Steaks and Geno’s Steaks, located in South Philly across from each other. The age-old debate pits these against each other. One of the best ways to find out is to grab one from each and do a taste test.
Another popular shop, and my personal favorite, is Tony Luke’s. Tony Luke’s has multiple locations in and around Philadelphia. They are also the only cheesesteak shops in the sports stadiums.
One last shop many people love is Dalessandro’s Steaks, a mom-and-pop in Roxborough that keeps customers coming back time and time again.
These are just a few Philadelphia favorites; feel free to do more research before you choose your stops.
