Hidden underneath The Joule in Dallas, Texas, lies the subterranean Midnight Rambler, a cocktail bar famous for its creative approach to cocktails and lively atmosphere. This summer, Midnight Rambler launches a new menu inspired by the city’s history with music.

Gabe Sanchez, Midnight Rambler’s award-winning cocktail expert, worked with his team to create a menu paying homage to various musicians like Stevie Ray Vaughan, Roy Hargrove and Kirk Franklin. To further connect the new cocktails to the area, Sanchez experimented with Texas-specific ingredients to highlight different flavors.
“We wanted to design the menu in a way that would showcase the different neighborhoods and spark curiosity,” said Sanchez. “We want people to take the menus with them and go see more of the city we love. The back of the menu features favorite destinations and bars the Midnight Rambler team frequents when they’re not at The Joule.”

The menu mimics a theme park with Disney font and colorful images of a map of the local neighborhood by which the cocktails are inspired.
One of the new cocktails, creatively called Bad Luck Blues and dedicated to Blind Lemon, features Texas whiskey, local grapefruit, mesquite bean powder and sumac seed. The Other Selena, another of the new cocktails, serves as a tribute to the famous Selena mural in Oak Cliff and consists of Calamity Gin distilled with blue bonnets and Texas wildflowers.

Some of the other highlights to appear on the new menu include its Fast Pass section, featuring a lineup of martinis, as well as New Money and Old Money, a play off the high-low luxuries with caviar and Lay’s potato chips paired with Bud Light or Champagne, respectively.
The Midnight Rambler is open Wednesday, 5 p.m.–midnight and Thursday–Saturday, 5 p.m.–2 a.m.
