If you frequently find yourself in a new city looking for new and interesting things to do, and you seem to always only find duds when you just do a simple Google search, you need Skorch.
The new Skorch app is like a heat map of cool spots, showing you where people are hanging out and where they’re loving it — including restaurants, bars, cafés and attractions. Users submit recommendations for inclusion. Then, those approved are added to a map for you to peruse. You can save favorite spots and review spots in real time (though do note you can only post photos of a spot in real time while you’re there; to keep things authentic, the app only allows you to upload photos directly from your camera, not your camera roll). As you discover new places and add them to your “hotlist,” you’ll gain followers, follow other uses and earn user “clout.”
Currently, Skorch is available in a handful of popular U.S. travel destinations, including Austin, Miami, San Diego, Nashville, Chicago, San Francisco, Seattle, New York City, Dallas, Houston, Orange County (California), Phoenix, Los Angeles and Washington, D.C. Toronto is also included.
Download Skorch for free on the Apple App Store.
