Reviews / Restaurant

Sitting just opposite Goldsmiths University in southeast London, this family-run Thai restaurant is a favorite with students and locals alike for delicious food at accessible prices.

If you are in Greenwich visiting the observatory or the national maritime museum, it’s not too far to The Thailand. The à la carte menu is extensive, but it’s the lunchtime special that draws in the crowds.

For just $9 you get two courses of delicious food, with a choice of soups, chicken satay, spring rolls and more for starters, followed by a selection of chicken, beef and pork main dishes. It’s incredible value and the chefs make truly delicious food.

The atmosphere is friendly and there are tables outside for when the weather is warm, although with three lanes of traffic outside, it’s not the most scenic spot. Grab a table inside for a more relaxing meal, and treat yourself to a Singha beer or two to wash the food down.

All in all, The Thailand is a good local restaurant that gets plenty of repeat customers thanks to its great food. Pop in for a visit and you won’t be disappointed, although you might have to book or wait for a table at lunchtime.
