Savvy beachgoers probably know all the tips and tricks when it comes to maximizing space in a beach bag, but a few years ago, an item debuted at an art show in Miami and is now available to the masses and combines two necessary beach accessories: a towel and a bathing suit cover-up.
The “towelkini” is a combination of a cover-up and a towel designed by artist Aria McManus. It is essentially a towel with slits cut into it for wearers’ arms, legs and head. With the towelkini in tow, beachgoers don’t have to carry a bulky towel in their beach bag; they can just wear it.
Some may argue the “bikini” implication in the name of the product is a bit nonsensical since the fabric of 100 percent cotton isn’t suitable for swimming, but the towel does serve to cover the body when lying on the beach under the sun, preventing the harsh rays from accessing delicate parts of your body.
Since its debut at a 2014 art show in Miami, at which point it was not for sale, the clothing item gained popularity thanks to the Internet and is now available for $199 and comes in hot pink, gold and green. There is also a mini version available on the website that retails for $79.99.

United Continues Its Global Expansion
