Hyatt Hotels Corporation announced the debut of Thompson Hollywood, a luxury lifestyle hotel on Wilcox Avenue, near Hollywood and Vine. The 11-story hotel features 190 Mid Century-inspired guestrooms, 16 suites, a dining concept from Lincoln Carson, and Bar Lis, a rooftop lounge and pool with city views.
Interior architecture studio Tara Bernerd & Partners brought a timeless elegance with a raw industrial edge to the hotel’s atmosphere, overall delivering a bold and confident design. A trellis-covered walkway welcomes guests to a lobby boasting mid-toned timber and greenery. The lobby bar, with a retro-green onyx, serves coffee, cocktails and casual bites, encouraging visitors to feel like residents, not guests.
Floor-to-ceiling windows throughout the property flood the space with natural light and boast sweeping vantage points of the Hollywood Hills and beyond. Exclusive D.S. & DURGA amenities can be found in guestrooms, alongside honor bars with curated selections, Egyptian cotton linens and 55-inch smart televisions. There’s also a 24-hour fitness studio for guests.
“Every touchpoint of the Thompson Hollywood experience has been concepted for the discerning traveler, particularly as pent-up travel demand has tourists and locals seeking memorable moments,” stated Bruno Vergeynst, managing director, Thompson Hollywood. “Whether it’s the thoughtfully designed lobby and guestrooms by Tara Bernerd & Partners, chef Carson’s sophisticated dining concepts, the Bar Lis rooftop lounge or our intuitive guest programming, Thompson Hollywood invites guests to embrace a breezy Angeleno lifestyle.”
Mes Amis draws inspiration from cafés throughout France, but with a Southern California sensibility. Fresh ingredients from local farms and markets feature in the dishes. Bar Lis, atop Thompson Hollywood, serves inventive cocktails, fresh bites and bistro classic with unobstructed views of the Hollywood sign. The retractable roof allows for all-weather, year-round entertainment.
Nightly rates begin at $399.

My mom and I recently dined at Mazi, a Greek restaurant in West Reading, Pennsylvania. We were in town for a family event and decided to take advantage of the lovely early fall evening by enjoying dinner outside. The restaurant is popular, so we called right when they opened to make a last-minute reservation. Thankfully, they had availability for outdoor seating.
