Whether you’re new to Uber or have used it since day one, the abilities to book a ride when you want it, where you want it, transformed the transportation industry. The days of calling a cab the night before an early flight to arrange a ride to the airport have been replaced by Uber’s easy-to-use scheduling function. Here are a few tips to follow the next time you need to schedule a ride with Uber.

Don’t accept the price suggestion as the final price. When scheduling a ride on the Uber app, Uber will provide a price range that will indicate what this type of trip may cost via a certain route and at a certain time of day, but this price may vary based on other factors such as unexpected route changes, traffic or weather.

Swiping allows you to browse different vehicles. The default vehicle may be the UberX, but a swipe to the left will reveal the prices and availabilities for Uber Black and UberXL SUVs.

You can schedule as early as weeks in advance. The app lets you enter your dates, the number of people and your destination up to a few weeks in advance.

Canceling is a few swipes away. If you need to make changes to or cancel your ride, open the app and click on the three lines in the top-left corner to view “Your Trips.” Once you’ve canceled your trip, you can re-book without leaving the app.
