The Himalayas are an adventurist’s greatest dream, topping many wish lists because it’s a true feat to visit and learn the way of life. Those who love adventure sports such as trekking and mountaineering will love to take a shot at exploring this famous mountain range. Even the surrounding towns can offer excitement to travelers in the form of rock climbing or skiing. The most important component to planning the perfect vacation to this extreme destination is careful planning. The planning can make or break the experience.
Pack the right clothes. This is necessary for ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable trip. Always bring warm clothes, like woolen shirts, pullovers and fur-lined coats. Don’t over-pack but it’s necessary to bring essential clothes that will keep your body warm and heated while exposed to the cold elements.
The best time to visit the Himalayas is mid-April to June. When the weather there is warm, it’s still cold to most people, so visiting during this time might still feel like winter. Pick trails that cross high passes because there will be less snow on the ground. It’s also possible to combine this trip with kayaking or rafting, depending on the weather.
Anyone making a trek into the Himalayas should plan to stay overnight. Pack the essentials, like a foam mattress, a Swiss knife, a sleeping bag and, of course, comfortable walking shoes. The weather is unpredictable and it’s advisable to bring an umbrella and a rain coat to keep dry during these storms.
