Tips / Safety

Wasting hours on an airport layover can feel brutal, especially when all your work is done and all your social media networks exhausted. Instead of idly waiting for the time to pass, take some time to get in a workout and give your energy levels a boost.

Climb the Stairs

Raise your heart rate and get in a good leg workout at the same time by climbing the stairs. Airports are full of them, and chances are high you’ll have lots of space while everyone else is taking the escalators and elevators.

Work on Your Tricep Dips

Park your luggage near an empty row of seats and work on your tricep dips. The airport bar or fast food joints are also an excellent place to get in a few tricep dips while waiting for your order.

Do Some Squats

Squats are easy to do just about anywhere. Find a space and keep up the workout from the back of the plane while you’re waiting for the lavatory.

Hit the Gym

Airports are catching o nto the idea travelers want more than just fast food and a place to grab a nap. Travelers can hit the gym at Roam Fitness inside Baltimore-Washington International Airport. Toronto Pearson International Airport also opened GoodLife Fitness with cardio machines, weights, luggage storage and day pass options. You can even rent clothes and shoes.

Find a Yoga Studio

If you’re not up for working up a sweat on a layover, try a yoga studio right inside the airport. San Francisco International Airport, Burlington International Airport and Chicago O’Hare International Airport are just a handful of places you can get in a calming yoga session before your flight.

After a mini workout right in the airport, you’ll board the plane a little more relaxed and ready to face your next wait.
