Tips / Other

Camping can help you relax the mind and reconnect with family or nature. If you wish for a stress-free trip, here are some things to pack.

Rain Gear and Warm Clothes

Bring rain gear, especially if weather is unpredictable or you’re in a mountainous area. Most campsites can get cold at night, so bring warm clothes to give you comfort throughout the night.

First-Aid Kit

No matter where you travel, you should have a first-aid kit for emergencies. Always try to pack allergy pills or an EpiPen because you may come in contact with unfamiliar animals or plants to which you may be allergic.

Tent, Sleeping Bag and a Pillow

The tent is your home for the length of your trip and the sleeping bag and pillow will give you as much comfort as possible. Ensure the tent is big enough for all your clothes, personal items and sleeping bags. The size will also depend on how many people you want to fit into each tent.

Non-Perishable Food and Water

Canned goods are easy to store and usually have a lengthy expiration date, so they stay longer whereas fresh foods need to be used immediately. The scent from canned foods is also contained so it does not attract animals. Bring enough water to last you for the entirety of the trip and two extra days.

Portable Chargers

It is likely you won’t have electricity at the campsite, so you may need to bring a portable charger or two to keep your devices juiced for the remainder of your trip.

Insect Repellent and Bear Spray

Always bring bug spray because insects and bugs are always around. Depending on your location, bear spray might be necessary to ward off bears and other large animals. If you’re paranoid or overly cautious, keep one handy.

Binoculars and a Lamp

If you plan to go hiking or sightseeing, a pair of binoculars will give you a better look of the landscape and animals hidden near your campsite. A lamp will help keep you illuminated at night when hanging out with friends or family.
