Top 5 / Other

According to a recent study from Rakuten OverDrive, 43 percent of U.S. adults are fans of audiobooks when it comes to entertainment while traveling. Millennials and Gen Z in particular are driving the audiobook market.

The top audiobooks travelers love right now? Rakuten OverDrive found the top audiobook checkouts from North American public libraries as of April. Here are the top five most popular.

Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens

A popular bestseller this year, Where the Crawdads Sing follows a young girl living in the swamps of North Carolina. The book was recently acquired for a film directed by Reese Witherspoon.

Crazy Rich Asians by Kevin Kwan

Following the success of the movie, it seems more travelers are interested in reading the rom-com novel that came first. The film has likewise driven some increased tourism to Singapore, where it takes place.

Nine Perfect Strangers by Liane Moriarty

Maybe don’t read (or rather, listen to) this page-turner if you’re on your way to a health resort? The bestselling book tells the story of nine perfect strangers who sign up for 10 days at a health resort in the hopes of finding happiness, but who find something different. Moriarty is also the mind behind HBO’s Big Little Lies.

Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng

A bestseller and top book since its release in 2017, Little Fires Everywhere follows a suburban Cleveland family and their relationship with a new-in-town mother-daughter duo. The book explores themes of motherhood, art and identity.

The President Is Missing by Bill Clinton and James Patterson

You should know when you get two big names like this behind a book, it’s bound to sell. The President Is Missing is about just that — a president that vanishes without at trace, all while dealing with the vast challenges that come with the role.
