Top 5 / North America

Traveling on the East Coast this summer? Stick to one of these five bars and you’ll find plenty of awesome drinks and equally awesome views.

The Beachcomber, Wellfleet, Mass.

Near Cape Cod, this beach bar was originally a life-saving station built in 1897. The deck is open to the beach and offers a 45-foot bar. While it’s family-friendly until the evening, afterward you can expect a little bit of every type of crowd, with every type of music for every type of indulgence.

Ocean Grill and Tiki Bar, Carolina Beach, N.C.

This bar is situated right on the end of a boardwalk, so you can choose to sit back and watch the beachgoers, or go all the way to the end for ocean views only. With this bar already surviving several hurricanes, you know it’s here to stay.

The Coast Guard House, Narragansett, R.I.

Another life-saving station turned bar, the Coast Guard House was similarly built in the late 1800s to only receive a new life as a restaurant and bar in the mid-1900s. Grab a seat on the roof deck for views of the shore and water, while you enjoy some fresh seafood and, obviously, plenty of drinks.

Thurston’s Lobster Pound, Bernard, Maine

Situated on a dock within Acadia National Park, this scenic spot hardly pulls out all the stops for its guests. Instead, it does what it does really well, and the locals and tourists alike flock there. Amazing fresh seafood and local beer is all you ever need to sit and watch the boats come and go for hours on end.

Tybee Time, Tybee Island, Ga.

Leave your pretense at the door. Tybee Time is a dive on Tybee Island where one of the main attractions is 10 Slurpee machines mixing up huge batches of daiquiris. Get one to go and head out onto the sand,or stick around inside, though that might leave you victim to some bad karaoke.
