Philadelphia (https://www.visitphilly.com) is home to a thriving bar and restaurant scene. With so many excellent places to choose from, the selection can be overwhelming. Sometimes you just want a great cocktail. Start with these spots on your next visit.

1 Tippling Place

When you enter 1 Tippling Place, you feel as though you’re in someone’s home. The lush décor features an eclectic mix of paintings; velvet, cushioned seating; and different sized tables. Order a flawless classic or be bold and try a seasonal drink like the Rittenhouse Daisy.

Southwark

Southwark Restaurant’s bar is a quiet spot off the hustle and bustle of South Street. Sample classic cocktails or opt for a unique house special like The Owls Are Not What They Seem. The restaurant boasts a special late-night menu if you want food with your nightcap.

The Ranstead Room

The cocktail bar is located behind the restaurant, El Rey. You may need to wait to get into the small, speakeasy-style bar. Once inside the dimly lit space, opt for the bartender’s choice to craft a drink unique to your tastes.

ITV

This spot in the city’s East Passyunk neighborhood offers a dinner menu, but the real draw is the seasonal and classic cocktails. ITV offers a wine and sake selection, and even a limited spirit-free cocktail list.

Friday Saturday Sunday

Known for both its drink and food menus, Friday Saturday Sunday serves a rotating list of cocktails. The restaurant was taken over by new owners in 2015, and they revamped the menu.

Enjoy the Open Road on Your Terms

For most of us, time in the car is “me time.” You can listen to that podcast you’re captivated by, blast that pop song and sing along at the top of your lungs or listen to the next chapter in that biography e-book you’re almost finished. A road trip only amplifies those opportunities. So, next time you’re traveling by road, take the wheel and take control. Opt for a rental car on your next vacation, rather than a rideshare, taxi or public transportation, and enjoy the open road on your own terms.
