Paris has no shortage of sights to see, restaurants to dine in and streets to roam, but if you’ve had your fill of the City of Lights, there are plenty of worthy daytrip spots just a short train ride from the French capital.
As one of the more well-known daytrips just 45 minutes from the city, the Palace of Versailles was once home to King Louis XVII and Marie Antoinette. Stroll the stunning gardens and mazes before venturing inside to the Hall of Mirrors.
The university town of Tours is surrounded by the illustrious Loire Valley, where castles and palaces like Chambord, Chenonceau and Amboise transport you back to a time of medieval royalty.
For a more peaceful and pastoral getaway, venture an hour northwest to the charming village of Giverny where painters like Monet and Renoir found inspiration.
The Belgian capital city is only 1.5 hours away by train. Visit the Grand Place or the Cinquantenaire park and gardens while sampling chocolate, waffles and Belgian beer.
Indulge in the world-famous sparkling wine in the region that gives it its name. Only one hour from Paris, Champagne can even serve as a half-day trip.
