Lisbon’s perfect blend of traditional and modern culture, a bustling nightlife and lovely year-round climate make it a wonderful destination for travelers. Portugal’s capital city contains some of the best hotels in the country, so it’s hard to go wrong when searching for a place to rest your head.
The bright canary yellow exterior of the Barrio Alto Hotel stands in stark contrast to its surroundings. The interior is stylish and traditional, however. Beautiful marble bathrooms and large, comfortable beds make it a great option for visitors. The Flores Restaurant is also a wonderful place to test out the Portuguese cuisine.
The Altís Belém Hotel & Spa sits right on the banks of the Tagus River for terrific views and easy access to all the best sites. Inside you’ll find a combination of white-and-black marble bathrooms, large balconies and a rooftop pool. The rooms themselves represent different areas of the Portuguese Golden Age.
The Olissippo Lapa Palace is a refurbished 19th-century palace that sits on a hill overlooking the Tagus River for stunning views. The rooms contain Juliet balconies, large terraces and marble bathrooms. When you’re not sleeping you can relax at the Turkish bath, the indoor and outdoor swimming pools or simply walk around the gardens.
Myriad sits at the foot of the Tagus River and stands out as distinctly modern against a skyline steeped in traditional architecture. Inside you’ll find extraordinarily comfy beds and whirlpool baths, along with plenty more amenities. An impressive spa and fitness center, along with the River Lounge Restaurant and Bar, will almost make you not want to leave the hotel.
InterContinental Lisbon earns a spot for being a wonderfully luxurious hotel at an affordable price. The sweeping views overlooking the city and the oversized beds are more than enough to keep you coming back. Alta Restaurant is also a fantastic eatery tucked inside.
