Top 5: Places to Visit in 2020

A new year means 365 days just waiting to be booked for travel. With each year comes a bevy of hot new attractions and destinations that dominate Instagram feeds and see an increase in visitors. In 2020, these will be the top spots for avid travelers.

Bhutan

Despite the recent popularity and, as a response, the restrictions placed on visitors (such as needing a guide in order to access certain areas), Bhutan still remains at the top of most travelers’ lists. Nestled high in the Himalayas, the limited number of visitors means this area is largely untouched and therefore well-preserved.

The Netherlands

This year the Dutch will celebrate 75 years of independence since the end of World War II, and celebratory events will be held throughout the country. Rent a bike and venture out of the capital of Amsterdam for incredible scenery along the countryside and coast.

Uruguay

Often overlooked by towering neighbor Argentina, Uruguay deserves a moment in the spotlight. Thriving wine regions, a progressive populace and a commitment to sustainable tourism are just icing on the cake.

Bonn, Germany

Classical music lovers should make their way to Bonn in 2020 for Beethoven’s 250th birthday during which music will fill the streets, world-renowned orchestras will travel to perform and Beethoven’s only opera will be on stage.

Japan

The 2020 Summer Olympic Games will be held close to Tokyo, but the rest of the country warrants a visit, as well, such as the northern region of Tohoku, a natural respite from the big city that has been working to rebuild itself since the tsunami in 2011.
