From Michelin-starred restaurants to backstreet diners, check out this list of great eating establishments in Portugal.

The Yeatman, Porto

It’s got two Michelin stars, and if you eat here you will see why. This Porto restaurant offers a fish tasting menu — rounding up the best the nearby Atlantic has to offer — as well as a huge collection of local wines and ports.

A Casa Guedes, Porto

This place couldn’t be more different to the swanky Yeatman, but it’s just as likely to leave you feeling satisfied. It’s a nice little café near the Jardim de Marques de Oliveira, where you can get a good filling meal for less than $10.

Mini Bar, Lisbon

Combining Michelin-star quality food with affordable prices, this place is housed inside the Teatro de Sao Luis in the Portuguese capital. The menu is crammed full of innovative small plates you can sample at your leisure.

Noelia & Jeronimo, Algarve

This place is right on the waterfront in Cabanas, near Faro, and reservations are absolutely necessary. It might not look fancy but this place attracts people who really know their food, and who come to sample the Portuguese classics with a twist that make the restaurant so popular.

Choupana, Alentejo

Head to Vila Nova de Milfontes in the Alentejo region and you will be able to eat delectable food on a waterfront terrace lapped by waves at high tide. Go for the catch of the day for some truly spectacular seafood.
