Top 5 / Caribbean

Bayamón might not be the largest town in Puerto Rico but that doesn’t mean it’s lacking when it comes to great places to eat. Authentic cuisine is hiding around every corner with a few foreign options that are surprisingly delicious.

Aposento

Aposento offers upscale dining in Puerto Rico at an affordable price. The authentic dishes here are made to order and are packed with delicious spices and huge portions to stuff your belly. Be sure to get your hands on some sweet plantains before you leave.

Restaurante Doña Ana

Restaurant Doña Ana is an unassuming joint tucked inside the El Mercado, but it has one of the tastiest menus in Bayamón. The menu is in Spanish so you might need a little help deciding on your meal, but no matter what you choose you can’t go wrong. Locals love the perfectly cooked bistec.

Mofongo

The best comfort food in Puerto Rico is found at Mofongo. The restaurant offers a great mix of local and mainland American cuisine, so there’s a little something for everyone and the prices are a steal. If you’ve got a heaping appetite, do yourself a favor and order the chuleta kan kan.

El Gigante Dormido

El Gigante Dormido is tucked away in a residential area of Bayamón, which only helps serve the authentic appeal. The menu changes constantly, but you can always get your hands on some mashed plantains or churrasco. For dessert, try a bite of the coconut flan.

La Fondita de Leo

Le Fondita de Leo won’t be winning any awards for its décor, but this unassuming little restaurant more than makes up for a dreary atmosphere with excellent food packed with flavor. It’s semi-authentic, so you’re able to get your hands on some churrasco with a side of French fries if you prefer.
