Food is important. What would Italy be without pasta? Would people love France as much if they didn’t produce amazing bread and wine? Sometimes the food makes a country stand out from the crowd. Travelers are planning entire vacations around what food they want to eat. The food craze isn’t going to stop anytime soon so it’s best to go along with it. Greece is no exception and has many delicious meals travelers go crazy for. Don’t visit Greece without trying some of these food options.

While in Greece, or at a Greek restaurant, always order baklava. This is an essential food to immerse into the Greek cuisine. Baklava is a delicious dessert that usually contains nuts, butter and sugar. It’s one of the most popular and most recognized Greek desserts. This treat will always make an appearance at a Greek wedding or celebration.

Vegetarians may already be familiar with this staple vegetarian food served in Santorini and Syros. Tomatokeftedes, or tomato fritters, are amazing. You’ll always want just a few more. The texture is rough and they look like fried red shapes. Fill up on these before hitting up the beautiful beaches of Santorini.

Another popular staple is the Greek Salad. This salad is so popular it can be found all over the world, but still the best place to have an authentic Greek salad is in Greece. It always has tomatoes, olives, cucumbers and Feta cheese. The Greeks definitely got this salad right.

Enjoy the Open Road on Your Terms

For most of us, time in the car is “me time.” You can listen to that podcast you’re captivated by, blast that pop song and sing along at the top of your lungs or listen to the next chapter in that biography e-book you’re almost finished. A road trip only amplifies those opportunities. So, next time you’re traveling by road, take the wheel and take control. Opt for a rental car on your next vacation, rather than a rideshare, taxi or public transportation, and enjoy the open road on your own terms.
