Honolulu will host its 10th annual Earth Day celebration at the historic Waikiki Aquarium this year, where attendees learn how humans impact the island’s water sources and ways to protect the environment. The event focuses on keeping Hawai’i clean and free of pollutants from its mountains to its oceans.

Trends / History

Universal Studios is the go-to destination for anyone looking to experience some movie magic, but each movie set you’ll encounter is hand-built on a lot or a sound stage. If you’re looking for genuine scenery in amazing on-site filming locations, head to Hawai’i, where you can not only enjoy the beautiful scenery, great beaches and fantastic weather synonymous with the Aloha State, but you can also experience firsthand some of the film industry’s most recognizable backdrops.

Kualoa, a private nature reserve on the island of Oahu, lays its claim to fame as Hollywood’s Hawai’i Backlot. This coastal ranch in the Ka’a’awa Valley has been used as a filming location for so many movies and television shows that everyone should recognize the scenery. The tour company brings visitors directly to those familiar sites with its Kualoa Hollywood Movie Sites Tour. If you’ve seen Jurassic Park, 50 First Dates, Hawaii Five-0 or Lost, you are sure to see some familiar sights. If you have somehow never seen any of the more than 50 productions filmed at Kualoa Ranch, you are still in for a treat as this location is home to some of the most breathtaking scenery on the island.

In addition to the filming sites tour, Kualoa also offers a range of experiences and tours of the expansive property, including ATV Raptor tours, horseback riding tours, kayaking tours and more.

Ninety-minute tours cost $47.95 for adults and $36.95 for children up to the age of 12. If staying in Waikiki, transportation to and from your hotel can be arranged with the tour organizers.
