Trends / Health & Wellness

Trying to get into yoga or just spice up your usual routine? Luckily, with more than a few unique classes trending, you may be able to do just that. See what curious class might be popping up near you.

Salt Room Yoga

For centuries, salt has been considered a wonder mineral with healing powers. Now, with scientific backing, salt caves and rooms have popped up in more major cities, offering therapeutic treatments. Salt rooms are believed to offer a slew of natural remedies, including healing skin ailments, assistance with respiratory issues and an aid in stress relief. The wonder of salt rooms doesn’t stop there — now you can practice yoga in them, too.

Salty Yoga for Breathe was developed to detox your body, free restricted breath in your lungs and help with a host of ailments — all while practicing yoga in a room covered with pink Himalayan salt.

Pot Yoga

Ganja Yoga isn’t some new-age name for a yoga studio, it’s actually yoga practice while smoking marijuana. This one may be more difficult to find, depending on your state and legality, but the concept is essentially that smoking weed during yoga should help block out distractions and assist in letting yourself go within the yoga practice.

Yoga with Animals

One that’s sure to please any animal lover, yoga classes featuring furry guests have popped up everywhere, and we’re not complaining. Do down dog with cats or let goats jump all over you while trying to move into vinyasa — it’s “therapeutic.” If puppies and kittens are more your speed, check out local rescues in your area. Depending, some rescues and pet-adoption agencies host yoga classes, where adoptable fur balls run, sleep and play all over your mat.
