U.S. Beach Towns Still Beautiful in Winter

While you may think going to the beach is reserved for hot, sunny summer days, there are plenty of beach towns still beautiful during the colder months. Plan a trip to these beach towns this winter.

Bar Harbor, Maine

Bar Harbor is a perfect destination for outdoor winter activities. There are skiing and snowshoeing opportunities at nearby Acadia National Park. If staying indoors is more your speed, explore some of the museums and restaurants open all year.

Cape Cod, Massachusetts

Cape Cod stays open for business year-round. While some spots close for the season, there are numerous restaurants, museums, theaters and shops open all year.

Cape May, New Jersey 

Cape May is New Jersey’s southernmost beach town. There are fall and winter festivals in Cape May, including craft fairs and viewings of the many Victorian houses in town. Visit one of the many Cape May wineries open all year.

Newport, Rhode Island 

Newport’s Gilded Age mansions are reason enough to visit any time of year, though these buildings come to life with holiday cheer during the winter. Go ice skating, see a show and enjoy dinner in a historic restaurant to round out your visit.
