Under $100: Boulder, Colorado

Boulder, Colorado, has a reputation as being one of the most progressive, welcoming and beautiful small towns in the country. It’s also known for being ridiculously expensive. But if you know where you to look you can easily spend an enjoyable day here for less than $100.

Start with a quick bite at Snooze An A.M. Eatery. This Boulder staple is insanely popular due to some incredible pancakes. Grab yourself a plate for $15.

Next, go for a drive up Flagstaff Mountain early in the morning to try and beat the crowds. Be sure to park near Lost Gulch to see the excellent views of Indian Peaks Range and the Boulder skyline. When you get back to town, there’s no better time to take a stroll through the University of Colorado to see how stunning it truly is. Both of these activities are free.

While there, be sure to check out a show at Fiske Planetarium. A show will cost $10.

For lunch check out T/aco. The quirky Mexican joint offers a variety of unique flavors and a meal should run you less than $10.

Begin the afternoon at the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art. Admission is only $1. Next, take a stroll along Pearl Street. The brick-paved street contains numerous shops, art galleries and eclectic street performers.

Boulder has a reputation for housing some incredible breweries, so choose one and go for a short tour. Many of them are free, or less than $10. Boulder Beer and Upslope Brewing Company are highly recommended.

Finally, make your way over to The Kitchen for a scrumptious dinner. The grilled BBQ pork skewer is a personal favorite, though you really can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. You’ll drop roughly $25 for a meal.
