Under $100: Cologne, Germany

Cologne is a great place to spend a couple days and you can do a lot on just $100. Here’s how.

Get your first meal of the day at Hommage Café on Friesenstrasse. The menu is varied and there is something to suit all tastes ($12). From here go for a walk around the Old Town and stop in at the cathedral to marvel at the collection of religious art, which draws pilgrims from around the world.

For lunch head down to the Rhine and get a table at Scampino Wein. Primarily a fish restaurant, this place also pairs its meals with great local wines if you fancy a drink ($25). In the afternoon, take a boat trip along the river, one of Europe’s biggest and most beautiful. A half-day trip should set you back around $20.

In the evening, try Petere’s Brauhaus for beers and food. This local brewery is incredibly traditional, and you can enjoy dishes such as pork chops and dumplings as you soak up the atmosphere ($25).
