Philadelphia may be filled with theatrical attractions, American history, shopping and world-class dining, but it’s also loaded with free fun. If you’re in the City of Brotherly Love, you don’t have to go broke exploring — there’s a lot of free ways to spend the day.
Take in the history of Independence Hall and Old City. Walk around the local attractions and window shop in the quirky shops. There are ample walking tours and signage throughout this section of the city, helping guests navigate this historic locale for free or close to it.
The Rocky Statue and steps (really just the Philadelphia Museum of Art steps) are another iconic (and free) stop in the city. Take a picture with Rocky and run up the steps in his honor and, for your own benefit, to take in the expansive view of the Parkway and get a better look at the stunning museum.
Blue Cross RiverRink’s Winterfest and Summerfest offers free entrance for everyone and a slew of attractions inside. Pay as you go with ice skating and food stalls lining the open-air park (all relatively affordable), but definitely take advantage of the boardwalk-style festival.
